A Look Back at 2014

CVHC_ANIME This has no doubt been an incredible year for me and the CV team. There have been a ton of firsts, a lot of pinch-me moments, and a fair amount of bittersweet memories as well. So seeing as New Year's eve is upon us, I wanted to take a little stroll down my memory lane to revisit my favorite (or most impactful) moments of the last year. So excited for what's next! A bientôt!  xcv unnamed-1 Early in 2014, I had the fortune to take an unforgettable trip to South Korea where I got the chance to see some of the stores that carry CV, meet buyers and soak up that amazing culture - and food! unnamed-3 It was an incredible honor to be asked to design a capsule collection for Wear LACMA this year. I designed a few pieces based off an exhibit in the museum's permanent collection and was in the wonderfully talented company of fellow L.A.-based designers Anita Ko and George Esquivel. This clutch was part of the collection - we took the print inspiration from an intricately embroidered 18th French Revolutionary century vest. unnamed-5 This was the year of the rebrand for us. Starting with our Spring '14 collection, Clare Vivier became Clare V. Here is a pretty pic of the first batch of our medallions about to be plated in 14k gold. unnamed-2 Mike D. has been one of my favorites for years, so when he and Monster Children magazine approached me to do a collaboration with them for his guest edited issue, I was beyond excited - as were the girls in the studio when he came to visit. Also it was a fun foray into men's too, which we're excited to expand upon in 2015. unnamed-4 Great group right here. Shea and Raan from Apolis kindly asked me to speak at their Design & Community event about the fashion community in Los Angeles. Having Krista Smith from Vanity Fair moderate was the perfect finishing touch. A truly great night. unnamed If you're lucky, each new year brings new friends. This year, I'm happy to have added Chad DiNenna and his wife Paola, to our friend set. He is the founder of Nixon watches and very smart and inspiring to talk to - I'm thrilled to have met both of them. They invited us to a benefit concert for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music where Bruno Mars played at Ron Burkle's house in Beverly Hills. It was super swank and this is what I wore: Tucker pants, Clergerie wedges, vintage fur cape and some gold jewels from my favorite designers. (More What I Wore segments to come on the blog.) unnamed Our third CV store opened in Santa Monica in November (with our fourth opening in West Hollywood come Spring!). Here's cute Greta behind the counter ready for customers, on the first day. We've had a great reception from the Santa Monica community - it's been a pleasure for our eastside brand to move west! I'll never get tired of staring at the Simone Shubuck collage wall. unnamed-6 Lastly, 2014 started out tough for me with my dad passing away unexpectedly in early January. Although I've really missed sharing all this with him as he was my biggest cheer leader and inspiration, I'm thankful every day that I had such a loving and wise dad to have guided me all these years, and he's still with me every step of the way. Bonne Année, Happy New Year!
