Amelia Champion is one of our original CV Ambassadors. We fell in love with her blog, Clotheshorse, and quickly became captivated by her singular style that is equal parts French influence and Los Angeles ease. Plus, we love that she lives close enough to pop by the CV studio—added perk! We caught up with Amelia and her Petit Alistair to talk about her favorites for Fall.
What was the reason for applying to become a CV Ambassador at the time? What drew you to the brand?
I’ve been a fan of the brand since it launched. I was living in New York and Steven Alan started carrying the “La Tropezienne” bag and I thought it was just gorgeous. Then I moved to L.A. and was following Clare on instagram when she posted about looking for ambassadors. I immediately stopped what I was doing and got my application together, haha.
What about CV resonates with your own personal style?
The thing that really attracts me to any brand is a high quality product made in an ethical fashion and built to last. So much in our culture is disposable. I don’t swear off fast fashion the same way I don’t swear off eating meat but I do pay attention to my consumption of both. That being said, style-wise I love things that are both fashionable and of the moment but that also have a timeless quality. Generally speaking I’m not crazy about logos although I do have my eye on one of those Gucci belts :) I hold onto all my Clare V bags. I think my daughter or granddaughter might want them one day.
How would you describe your personal style?
I would say my style is feminine but relaxed. People also tell me that I dress like a French girl and I find myself following a lot of the French fashion set on instagram. I also love vintage and specifically, vintage denim. I’m currently breaking in a pair from Collection LA, which is a little boutique on Sunset in Echo Park that I love. I wear my RE/DONES way too much. The more mature I become and the better I know myself I just want to have a uniform. My current uniform would be vintage denim, t-shirts from Reformation and some sort of low block heel or flat and a Clare V. bag.
What are your favorite CV bag picks for Fall '16 and why?
The Petit Alistair was a hit right away and it’s perfect because it’s a unique shape but also very classic. It elevates every outfit. I also finally got my hands on a Sandrine which is my “day bag” I take it to meetings and feel like a very polished adult woman. It’s roomy and can fit a make-up bag, flats, etc. I also love the Paul and the Fabienne. I’m very into a small crossbody for bopping around at the moment.
How do you plan on wearing them?
The thing I love about Clare’s bags is that I make my picks and then wear them with everything all season long! With gym clothes or a fancy dress. They dress up or down pretty easily. I hate switching bags. I’m lazy!
What are your favorite trends for Fall '16 and how will you be wearing them/ incorporating them into your look?
I love a roomy, oversized coat, I just got a pink trench that I’ll be excited to wear if the temps ever drop here. Mid length skirts and dresses with Adidas gazelles. Wicker bags. Camisoles and all that minimalist Kate Moss in the 90s stuff. I was in Reformation the other day, looked around and was like “I would have totally shopped here as a pre-teen” haha. I love Reformation too much. I have to be careful in there.
In terms of shopping, I keep a list on my phone and right now it says
Black Blazer (loose)
Black Chelsea Boots
Camille Ballerina shoe by Repetto
Adidas Gazelles
Gucci Belt
So that’s my shopping list for fall!
